Just to the northwest of Valdejal�n, and enjoying a similar climate and topography, strongly influenced by the cold, north-eastern cierzo winds, this IGP styles itself the �Empire of Garnacha�. With good reason! We were frankly stunned by the price-quality ratio of this entry-level wine, especially considering its non-entry-level pedigree: 100% certified organic, estate-grown, dry-farmed, head-pruned vines! El Casetero is all foot-trodden and fermented with indigenous yeasts and shows the ripe, plummy and spicy side of the grape, with remarkable freshness and length. It is dangerously grapy and gulpable in the new vintage.
