Bercher 2021 Grauburgunder Feurerberg 1er Lage
The combination of Burkheim’s volcanic soils and 2021’s piquant balance has here produced a Grauburgunder of exquisite poise and elegance, a million miles away from the heavy, sweetish Ruländers that the kaiserstuhl has been known for. This is the sort of vivacious Pinot Gris that the Alsatians can only dream of these days.

Notes from the Producer: This 1G (VDP.ERSTES GEWÄCHS) was grown on volcanic soil in the single-vinyard of Burkheimer Feuerberg (VDP.ERSTE LAGE), on the western rimm of the Kaiserstuhl. Fermented and aged on the fine lees in traditional oak casks, this Grauburgunder shows wonderfull, precise fruit and creaminess, with mineralic properties and grip.
