Domínio do Açor 2022 Tinta Pinheira
Açor has just five rows of this finicky variety, but such is their belief in its potential for fine and original wines that they have planted another eleven. Entirely destemmed, this is a crunchy, bright and enlivening red, quite different from everything else they make. Just 12 bottles available of the 530 made!

Primary Vineyard Name | A few rows of the Vinha Nascente vineyard, 35-year-old vines. We only had five rows of Tinta Pinheira in the estate, and in 2024 and 2025 we grafted on the field another 11 rows, also in Vinha Nascente, as we believe that this finicky and capricious grape variety, like Pinot Noir, can produce wines of spectacular quality and finesse in the Dão region, and especially in our Terras de Senhorim sub-region. |

Additional Harvest Notes | Always very demanding in the vineyard, Tinta Pinheira ripens unevenly and rots easily with the equinoctial rains, so we always leave as much as possible to avoid the herbaceous component, but never after the first rains. |
Other Vineyard Details | A few rows of the Vinha Nascente vineyard, which covers a total of 3.72 hectares, with 35-year-old vines. |
Notes from the Producer: We are increasingly delighted with the potential of Tinta Pinheira to deliver the wines of great finesse, freshness, minerality and harmony that we want to be the hallmark of Domínio do Açor. As a grape variety, it has a slightly vegetal character, so we avoid the use of stems and take the utmost care to create only an infusion environment, rather than extraction, in its cuvaison.
