Forest-Marié N.V. Cuvée St. Crespin 1er Cru
This wine came to Thierry from old vines in the Premier Cru village of Écueil, home of Gracianne Marié, his wife, whose terroir presents entirely differently. An imposingly spicy, gingery champagne made in a dry style (just 5 gm. of dosage), it would serve as well at the table as as an aperitif. The new cuvée is a blend of 2014 and 2013 and is made entirely from Pinot Noir fermented half in used wood and half in steel. It is a splendidly vinous champagne, spicy and firm, and brimming with contained power.

Notes from the Producer: Saint Crispin – the patron saint of Ecueil’s “Premier Cru” hillsides - gave its name to this 100% Pinot Noir mosaic. The harvested grapes come from plots called “Blanches Vignes”, “Coupés”, “Consins”… This cuvee was vinified in barrel and patiently aged on its lees during 5 years. This generous and round wine can be drunk all through the meal.
A golden color with amber highlights. A charming and elegant nose exhales a palette of yellow-fleshed fruit (plums and almonds fresh apricots). Lively attack. The franck mouth reveals a well-balanced wine with generous apricot notes. The finish is marked by notes of ripe plums and quince paste.
