Schloss Ortenberg 2024 Sauvignon Blanc "Granit"

Our second vintage of this surprising wine is simply perfect, and a testament to the strides made by the ubiquitous Sauvignon in Germany. The musky nose and mineral-rich palate bring a distinctive Teutonic flair to the grape.

Germany and Sauvignon – not the first pairing wine lovers might think of. But at our estate, we have been cultivating this variety since 1936 and have gained great experience with it. Our Sauvignon reflects the unique terroir of the Ortenau: fruity, elegant, with a saline and crisp finish.

Notes from the Producer: Sauvignon blanc has a long history in Baden. First mentioned in 1871 and has recently made a resurgance. The ranite soil combined with the cool breeze from the Black Forest imparts flavours of exotic fruit into the wine.
