Notes from the Producer: The 2017 wine vintage, a special one for the future. With dry weather during the harvest, the sugar levels in the grapes were concentrated. The acidity levels also rose and the harvest yields were lower. As a result, we harvested high quality grapes with high but ripe acidity levels. This is a special characteristic of the 2017 wines, which means they have enormous aging potential. Even today, the wines shine with a distinctive fruit-acid aroma. The 2017 vintage is therefore outstanding. Initially, it received little attention, but now it is showing its strengths. This selection grew in the steep vineyards between large rocks on very light slate weathered soil enriched with volcanic rock. This is one of the best areas in Erdener Teppchen and thus one of the best areas for Riesling cult
