Aldinger (2014) Pinot Brut 2 Sekt
It is characteristic of the collegiality of the Aldingers that they should have co-operated with friends and colleagues to produce their “basic” Sekts. In this case, the collaborators are fellow producer Hans-Peter Wöhrwag and Germany’s absolute mage of bubbles, Volker Raumland. Cutting no corners, this cuvee, which hails from the excellent Sekt vintage of 2014, was left on the lees for 84 months before disgorgement. This long aging has imbued it with a fine mousse and an ineffably creamy and insinuating nose. The acme of elegance, it will fool many a champagne-fancier.
