Pascal Bellier 2021 Cour Cheverny
This marks the return of an old favorite. Cour Cheverny is a tiny sub-section of Cheverny and it is dedicated to Romorantin, a fascinating, ancient variety found uniquely here. With the same parentage as Melon and Auxerrois, it leans more towards the former, or at least it used to until climate change caused it to take on an unaccustomed blowsiness that disenchanted these aficionados! But, in the famously cool and difficult 2021 vintage, the wine rediscovered its true self, which is a steely, intensely mineral character whose honied nose hints at the gorgeous form the wine will assume when patiently aged for a few years. We may not see its like again!
