Ch. Canon Chaigneau Ch. Canon Chaigneau This beautifully situated château was taken over from the long-time owners, the Marin family, by the dynamic Romik Arconian and his viticulturist partner Marine Fontana. Romik is an Anglo-Armenian gentleman of immense personal charm who came to this privileged corner of Bordeaux from a successful career as a wine merchant in Paris. He has had the wisdom and good fortune to retain the services of Louis Marin as “chef de culture”, thus ensuring continuity of practice. More importantly, the wines continue to be made by Thierry Garnaud, who was the “maître de chai” at Ch. Cheval Blanc, no less, from 1988 – 2018. He and Marin are childhood friends, and he brings to the task (his since 1995!) an unmatched pedigree and class. The viticulture is conducted according to “la lutte raisonnée”, and the estate has been accorded the accolade of “Haute Valeur Environmentale” by the French Ministry of Agriculture. 1/5 Producer: Ch. Canon Chaigneau Country: France Region: Bordeaux Subregion: Lalande-de-Pomerol City of Origin: Néac Date Founded: 2010 Owner Name: Romik Arconian Vineyard Size: 21 Total Annual Production: 8000-11000 cases Download Info Sheet Property History: Wines have been made on the Néac plateau since the Roman times, the ample advantages to making complex and delicious wines apparent to early vintners. 21 hectares of clay & limestone with iron deposits, at the highest point of the Néac plateau, and in the continuity of the most prestigious part of the Pomerol plateau, 800 meters as the crow flies, from Château Petrus. As Decanter magazine says, the plateau is, '...essentially a continuation of that of Pomerol itself, and the majority of the best crus of Lalande are found in this corner of the appellation.’ Owner History: Romik Arconian, London born wine merchant, with his partner Marine & their young family, took over Canon Chaigneau in 2020, with the ambition of making it a leader in the appellation & whole region (though the wines were already pretty damn good!) Romik has been inthe wine business 25 years; founding Grands Crus Paris & it’s retail online store, www.crus.fr, plus the much loved Parisian natural wine bar and shop, le Garde Robe. Wines By Ch. HTE-RETNV View Tetramythos's Producer Page Tetramythos N.V. Retsina Tetramythos have stormed Europe with this revolutionary version of Greece’s most infamous vinous product. Treated with a seriousness never before accorded it by anyone, it is made from the estate’s organic Roditis grapes (rather than the Savatiano almost universally employed elsewhere), to which is added before fermentation a moderate quantity of resin drawn from pine trees growing on the property. 40% is fermented on wild yeasts in amphorae, the balance in stainless steel. Extended lees aging is the final touch before bottling. Our low yields are the natural outcome of old, deep-rooted vines that sit on a stony soil of ancient riverbed and garrigue. Coupled with the Mediterranean climate of long, hot, dry summers and the rot-inhibiting Mistral wind, our vineyard is the perfect environment for beny maturation, giving a pure expression of terroir. VINIFICATION: Hand-harvested early in the season to retain the natural acidity of the fruit, our 13 grapes varietals are picked at sunrise lo retain freshness and brought to the cellar in small containers for direct pressing. Partly barrel fermented with wild yeasts, maturation takes places in tank and barrel (with lees stirring) followed by light filtration prior to bottling at the Domaine in January following harvest. Minimal sulphite addition. Screwcap has been chosen to retain the freshness and primary aromas of this wine. TASTING NOTES: Colour: Straw, clear and bright. Nose: Citrus, honeysuckle and summer stone fruit. Palate: Aromatic notes of apricot with tropical hints. Crisp acidity with stone fruit flavours filing the mid palate. A soft, well balanced finish. Like everything else he makes, it derives much of its character from a prolonged exposure to the lees during a tirage of more than three years. But the wine also enjoys a long maceration on the skins before bottling, which imparts a beguiling golden hue. It is disgorged, so cloudiness is avoided. • Aldinger

Aldinger Aldinger Württemberg is a region even more obscure outside Germany than Baden, but it enjoys tremendous renown at home for its singular renditions of autochthonous grapes such as Trollinger, Lemberger and Kerner, as well as the classics of Riesling and the burgundy varieties. With Germany’s automotive capital Stuttgart sucking up the lion’s share of the region’s wines, together with towns such as Heilbronn, Karlsruhe and Pforzheim, there has been little motivation for the best producers to seek export markets. This is the background against which we had the unbelievable good fortune to add this celebrated producer to our portfolio. The first and only producer in Württemberg to be given five “grapes” by the Gault Millau guide, the family has been established in Fellbach since 1492, both as coopers and wine-growers. In the sure hands of brothers Hansjörg and Matthias Aldinger, they have been propelled into the stratosphere of quality and acclaim. Their urban winery lies within spitting distance of the Mercedes Benz headquarters and Museum (whose exceptional restaurant, open to the public, naturally offers their wines). Among the many accolades they have won was a 100 point rating from Gault Millau for their 2011 Brut Nature Sekt. In short, what we have here is as good a wine producer as Germany offers, making an astonishing array of wines across the board and at every price echelon. Welcome to their world. 1/2 Producer: Aldinger Country: Germany Region: Württemberg Subregion: Remstal-Stuttgart City of Origin: Fellbach Date Founded: 1492 Owner Name: Hansjörg & Matthias Aldinger Vineyard Size: 32 HA Total Annual Production: 300,000 bottles Download Info Sheet Property History: His arrival would set the foundation for what is today the region's oldest winegrowing estate. Almost 500 years later, in 1955, Gerhard Aldinger married Anneliese Aldinger (neé Pflüger) and decided to convert his father-in-law's existing cooperage into a full- scale winery. The 1973 acquisition of Untertürkheimer Gips marked another critical milestone in the estate's history. Following the vineyard's purchase, the word GIPS quickly established itself with a new meaning in the region: distinctive, mineral-rich wines unlike any produced here before. 1992 – Building on 500 years of wine growing tradition, Gert Joachim Aldinger takes the helm. Dubbed the 'King of the Kappelberg,' Gert Joachim Aldinger's decision to plant international grape varieties and radically reduce yield broke new ground in the region. 15 years later, the estate is among Württemberg's finest. And like the prized vines on the Fellbach slopes, Gert Aldinger's sons Hansjörg and Matthias are aging nicely into the second generation. This seamless transition is a tremendous point of pride for both the family and the estate.
