Laurent Lequart N.V. L'Heritiere, Champagne Extra Brut
This house has a philosophy of leaving the wines “en tirage” for an extended period and using a serious proportion of reserve wines. In this case, we are looking at a base of 70% 2020, with the balance coming from the two previous years. “L’Héritière” is Lequart’s ambassadorial wine, designed to show what the assemblage of Champagne’s three main grapes can achieve in Passy-Grigny (they make an entry-level Meunier that is excellent but less compelling). Fine mousse, toasty nose, perfectly judged dosage (6 gm.) and delicious flavor.

Additonal Maturation Details: | This wine was disgorged about four years ago, as we usually allow a long period between disgorgement and release. We focus on the wine's overall ageing rather than just the time spent on the lees. In this particular case, we anticipated disgorgement slightly because of the low production and yields, combined with higher demand. This batch then benefited from additional ageing after disgorgement to compensate for the slightly shorter time on the lees. |
