Other Vineyard Details | Primarily that area where the Platori vineyard is, is mostly planted with red grape vines but in this vineyard we chose to plant Kydonitsa which is a white grape in order to produce a white wine with a lot of character and aging potential. |
Notes from the Producer: Our winery is strongly associated with the revival of viticulture and vinification of the indigenous Kydonitsa variety which is native to Laconia. This is a wine that we produced after many yaers of working with Kydonitsa grapes and carefuly observing its potential. The thick, tannic skin of the grape is used along with patience and time in our winemaking protocol to create a wine with texture and character and dimention. We source our grapes from a particular vineyard in Velies-the village where Yiorgos Tsimbidis our founder was born and grew up in- that has showed more palate driven wines with aging potential. Overall, it is a wine that represents our region and winery very originally.
Deep yellow color, aromas of quince, citrus peels, dried herbs, notes of sourdough. Intense flavor, acidity and a subbtle tannic backround. Tongue tingling quince, apricot and phenolic smokiness all parts of the rich texture of a wine that explodes in the palate and leaves a wonderfully long aftertaste.
