Marc Plouzeau 2024 Chinon Rosé
Those who followed the long-running Devants de la Bonnelière Touraine Rosé will know what a deft hand Marc has with rosé wine. This latest example is a step-up appellation-wise and offers the familiar thrill of Cabernet Franc gone pink. Poised between earth and fruit, it presents a drier, tangier and arguably more food-friendly rendition of the genre than is typical in France.

Notes from the Producer: In 2024, we initially put the grapes in vats with the intention of making a red Chinon. But after 24 hours, the aroma and color were perfect for making a lovely rosé. So we decided to remove the wine from the vats and press it immediately. The result is a more intense fruitiness and a lovely long finish, while retaining a pale rosé color. We'll do it again, but not for every vintage.
