Vins Gigou 2021 Pineau d'Aunis "L'Ancetre"
How could we possibly not buy this simply extraordinary wine, the fruit of 120 year-old vines planted in a parcel about 5 km. to the north of the Loir? Its unexpectedly deep hue owes perhaps to the unusual twelve weeks’ maceration on the skins, followed by three months in amphora. Everything about this wine is chiselled, from nose to tail. It elevates the humble Pineau d’Aunis to a truly stately place.
