Aranleon

I00 miles inland from Valencia lies this impressive estate run by a husband-and-wife team since 2000, and certified organic since 2007. Its 120 hectares are divided among four fincas planted to several different varieties, both indigenous and not. The vinification is conducted in a newly-constructed facility dug six meters below the original building, so all essential functions can be conducted by gravity-feed. The wines are lusty and full of flavor and life, but are always within bounds. The labels are whimsical and attractive and the prices beyond fair. We think we have discovered a winner here.

Property History:

Aranleón is a Family Owned Estate dedicating ourselves to the best oenology of organic wines for 17 years. Our winery ARANLEÓN was built in1927 in the small village of Los Marcos, 100 km West from the Mediterranean Sea in the region of Valencia.120 hectares covering our 3 vineyard plots. Fertile rain fed slopes, surrounded by pine groves, aromatic bushes and oak trees give life to the different varieties and generous harvests born of indigenous grape varieties. The Reds: Bobal, Monastrell, Tempranillo, The Whites: Macabeo. 400 French, American and Hungarian oak barrels We are known as the Flagship of the organic wines in Valencia: from D.O.P. Owner History:

Maria studied a degree in Agricultural engineering and Paco had vineyards in the area. When they met they decided to make to adapt the vineyards in order to express all the potential of the terroir in a bottle of wine.
