Reus once shared billing with Paris and London as one of the three cities that set spirits prices on the international market, a claim the Fot-Li label still wears on its sleeve. The wealth that came with it built the modernista architecture that still defines the city Gaudí was born in. Toni Omedes Alegre has resuscitated a century-old family tradition in precisely this city, reviving a formula first developed in 1910 and launching Fot-Li (the name translates roughly as "just go for it" in Catalan) in 2016 as a vermouth built on White Grenache, macerated three weeks with a house blend of botanicals. A varietal wine base is rarer than it sounds in a category built on neutral bulk, and this one comes from the city that made vermouth a Spanish ritual.
