Aphros 2021 Phaunus Pet Nat Rosé
Being “old school” as we are does not blind us to the appeal of well-made examples of the current vogue for Pet Nat and other such wines i.e we are more concerned about the “what” than the “how”! The ”what” here is a simply delicious, low alcohol (11%) sparkler squeezed from two rare indigenous black grapes of the Vinho Verde region boasting a pale (but clear) hue, an ebulliently fresh aroma and more sheer fruity charm on the palate than seems decent. If you are hoping for new school funk, look elsewhere!
