Lacourte-Godbillon

We are delighted to introduce this ambitious 8 hectare estate to our champagne portfolio, having had our eye on it for some time now. Géraldine Lacourte and her husband Richard Desvignes took it over from her parents in 2007. They left the co-op in 2012, began an organic conversion in 2017 (certified since 2020) and are now almost finished with the further conversion to biodynamic viticulture. They present a compelling range of wines designed to showcase the surprisingly myriad possibilities offered by their 1er Cru vineyards in Écueil (which is coincidentally the home of Gracianne Marié, of Forest-Marié). The house-style might be described as extroverted, with most of the wines revelling in their generous fruit endowment and effortlessly supporting their prevalent dryness.

Owner History:

2008: Richard and I took over the family Domaine after 1 year at school in Avize. we both worked before in international companies (Richard in the printing industry and myself in the glass industry in Germany). we decided to take up the challenge and continue and develop the family domaine. Main evolution: - 2012: we left the coop in the village to become 100% independant and able to control the whole process - 2017: start of the organic conversion - 2020: First organic certified harvest - 2019: start of the biodynamic conversion we work exclusively with our own grapes (no purchase) we manage the work in the vineyard with our team only (no external people hiring except for harvest) our philosophy: the best wine comes from the best grapes. our priority is the work in the vineyard, protecting the soil and developping the biodiversity (sheep, trees, fruit trees, birdnest...)
